The Shelbyville City Council passed a Fireworks Ordinance to regulate the sale and use of fireworks within the city limits of Shelbyville.  The entire ordinance can be downloaded below.

Note:  There is a typographical error in reference to the last date fireworks may be fired on the last day of the July 4th holiday.

In summary, anyone interested in the sale of fireworks will need to view or download the entire ordinance above.  If you are just interested in when you can shoot fireworks, the date and times allowed are listed below.

  • July 1 through July4 -The permissible hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. except for July 4, when permissible hours are from 10 a.m. to 11:30p.m.
  • December 31 and January 1 - The permissible hours are from 8:00pm on December 31 to 1:00 a.m. on January 1.

Violations from this ordinance will be subject to a penalty of up to $50. 00 per violation.
