Child Pornography Arrest

Chief Austin Swing announces the arrest of 20 year old Richard James Kunna, Jr., for 1 count of Possession of Child Pornography and 4 counts of Receipt of Child Pornography in violation of Title 18 USC Section 2252.  The arrest is a result of a joint investigation of internet child pornography by Shelbyville Police Lieutenant Detective Pat Mathis and Special Agent Richard Poff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  Following the investigation, Kunna was indicted by the Federal Grand Jury for the Eastern District of Tennessee in Chattanooga, TN.  Kunna was transported to Chattanooga on Thursday, July 16th, 2009 to appear before a federal magistrate.  He was informed that he could be facing a maximum of 10 years for the 1 count of possession of child pornography, and a possible minimum 5 years to a maximum 20 years per count for the receipt of child pornography.  Kunna faces a sentence of 20 years (mandatory minimum) up to 90 years (maximum).  Kunna was released on bond with strict requirements pending his case disposition in September 2009.
